Students who have left WMSF (the old William Morris Academy) have often gone on to great things! If you are an ex-student we would love to hear from you. Just drop us an email with what you are doing now e.g. studying, working, raising a family etc. It’s great for staff and students - past and present - to know what you have got up to! We’d also be delighted to add you to our alumni database if you want to be kept up-to-date with major events here. We look forward to hearing from you!
Sara Abbas
Sara joined us from Paddington Academy. She had a sound set of GCSE
results but really started to flourish when she moved on to advanced level work.
In her first year she took six subjects at AS level; Chemistry, Biology, Maths,
World Development, Media Studies and Film Studies and carried on four of
these –Chemistry, Maths,World Development and Media Studies – to A2.
She also tookpart in our first trip to Kigezi High School, working alongside
Maths teachers in the classroom. Sara made an outstanding contribution to
our student life and is progressing to Queen Mary, University of London, to read Pharmacy.
Wuhbet Adhanom
Wuhbet arrived in England from Eritrea in 2006 and joined us in September of
that year, having made enough progress in English in just a few months to enable
her to embark on advanced level study. During her first year with us she gained
AS levels in French, Italian, Spanish and World Development, all at grade A. She
also gained GCSE Maths and English. Wuhbet continued all of her AS subjects to
A Level, but also added AS Maths, having done very well at GCSE, and for the sake
of broadening her studies and further developing her mind. She gained A grades
in all of her subjects at A level, with B in AS Maths. Wuhbet was a remarkable
student, who gained these results having lived in Britain for a very short time, and
having arrived here alone, without any members of her family to support her.
She is progressing to Royal Holloway, University of London, to read Economics
with French.
Stephen Gibson
Stephen came to us in September 2004 from Hurlingham and Chelsea School.
At this point, he already had ambitions to create his future in the theatre, so he
took the Applied A Level Double Award in Performing Arts (now replaced here by
the BTEC National Diploma). It was clear that Stephen had tremendous natural
ability, and he built on that with commitment and dedication, especially in the area
of dance, in which he had little prior experience. Stephen knew that he would
stand a much better chance of being accepted into Drama School if he did not
apply straight from sixth form, but instead spent some time working and gaining
more experience. However, he returned to William Morris this year for help with
his application and in going through the arduous and highly competitive audition
process. We are delighted that he gained a place on the Acting course at East 15
Drama School, starting this September.
Ryan Mahon
Ryan came to us with very strong GCSEs from Hurlingham and Chelsea School.
He took A level English Literature, Biology and Government and Politics, plus AS
level Spanish in his first year here. Having arrived at William Morris with the
ambition of eventually going to university to read law, he also took one of our
Personal Extension Programmes, in Legal Cases. Ryan achieved A grades in all of
his A level subjects. He is taking a gap year, gaining further experience of law by
working in a law practice, and is then going to the University of Birmingham,
to read Law.
